We are recruiting for an award-winning logistics company based in the Paisley area, looking to recruit a Transport Planning Coordinator on a permanent basis.You would be joining a forward-thinking, award-winning organisation that provide a top-class service and work with products that most people across the world will use, consume and recognise.This role is pivotal in delivering their transport planning services and in the role you'd be looking after the full process from collection to invoicing and further; responsible for organising, planning and managing transport movements within budgets and timelines. We are looking for someone that has 2 years of experience in a similar role and as an absolute requirement, you will need experience in route planning and route optimisation, if you don't have this we sadly cannot consider you for the role. The position is hybrid working, 2 days working from home a week and 3 days in the Paisley offices, typically you'd work a Wednesday/Thursday from home, but this is flexible.The role is permanent and full time, working Mon-Fri and a 37.5 hour week.The salary for this role is up to £30,000 DOE and you will have access to plenty of benefits too, from 25 days holiday + bank holidays, a bespoke salary bonus scheme, private healthcare, enhanced pension, access to a number of retail/leisure discounts, life insurance and free parking on site.Typical responsibilities:

  • Review outstanding orders within the transport management system to ensure timely action.
  • Plan daily vehicle movements, consolidating orders where possible to maximise vehicle fill and minimise empty mileage.
  • Communicate with dedicated drivers to ensure they can meet their scheduled collections. Adapt times if necessary.
  • Ensure all vehicle movements are planned using the most cost-effective routes to optimise costs.
  • Coordinate with Hauliers/DC transport to ensure schedules are met.
  • Arrange collection and delivery times, and obtain booking references as required.
  • Ensure all relevant details are accurately entered into the transport management system (TMS).
  • Helpdesk Management: Efficiently handle Helpdesk calls over the weekend, ensuring timely resolutions and minimising escalations.
  • Proactively manage daily operational issues, escalating where necessary to maintain smooth operations.
  • Provide support to the team with other duties as required, including additional tasks delegated by the Operations Team Leader.
  • Ensure all transport jobs have the correct customer code, are properly rated, and that delays or exceptions are accurately recorded in TMS.
  • Provide high-quality operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) upon request.
  • Support the Operations Team with other relevant duties when required.
  • Ensure all queries are checked and updated on a daily basis. Keep the finance team updated with any changes.

What do we need from you?

  • Minimum of 2 years' operational experience in a transport planning role within a busy transport environment.
  • Strong knowledge of route planning for HGVs, including consideration of driver resting periods and legal compliance.
  • Good understanding of Food Safety regulations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to import and manipulate data from external sources.
  • Knowledge of the freight, transport, and logistics industry, including industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Ideally you'll need to be able to easily commute to the Paisley area too.
