This role requires a Project Buyer from an engineering/industrial industry background to manage buying operations, overseeing activities ranging from vendor selection to contract negotiation.

Description

  • Measure the performance (KPI reporting) of and develop existing suppliers to deliver continuous improvement by employing best practice to achieve cost reduction and improved quality and delivery performance.
  • Achieve the best possible commercial terms on base cost and payment terms while ensuring the full scope of supply is delivered in accordance with the contractual requirements.
  • Negotiate contract terms & conditions.
  • Using negotiation skills, influencing techniques and effective communication to establish partnerships with new or existing suppliers and customers to ensure positive results.
  • Requirement for local, national and international travel, occasionally at short notice.
  • Continually assess market trends and adjust procurement strategies as needed.

Profile

A successful Project Buyer should have:

  • Working experience in a Mechanical / Engineering Discipline
  • Experience of managing suppliers across the globe and the ability to build & improve relationships
  • Experience with and understanding with technical drawings and specifications would be beneficial
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in sourcing.
  • Capable of identifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including MS Word, Excel, Project and Outlook)
  • Negotiating skills and knowledge of contractual terms and conditions
