A Global Infrastructure Consulting firm is currently growing their Defence Procurement and Commercial team. As an organisation they support global businesses to design and deliver complex transformation programmes. They are recruiting across Cumbria, Barrow and Manchester for Quantity Surveyors, Senior Quantity Surveyors, and Cost Estimators
They are one of the leading providers of consulting services to the Infrastructure, Natural Resources, Government and Real Estate sectors, among others, and ranked highly on the Sunday Times Top Track 250.
Their Commercial and Procurement team, in this sector, supports iconic and household names across Central Government and Defence. They currently sit at around 300 people nationwide and are growing due to increased client demand, an improved value proposition, and business strategy that prioritises growth.
The successful candidate(s) will be conducting cost management, procurement, and contract administration for defence-related construction, infrastructure, and facilities projects. These projects typically include military bases, training facilities, defence estates, and secure infrastructure, along with specific assets and military equipment
Specific responsibilities include
- Prepare, manage, and review project budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts
- Conduct cost analysis and provide value engineering solutions.
- Monitor project costs and identify potential cost savings.
- Manage procurement processes, including tendering, supplier selection, and contract negotiation.
- Administer contracts (JCT, NEC, or FIDIC)
- Assess contractor and supplier valuations and payments
- Work directly with senior decision makers and leaders to update on progress.
The successful candidate(s) will also be working based in Cumbria and Barrow, with Manchester as their base office location. This will likely mean going to Cumbria or Barrow 2-3 days a week and to Manchester 1-2 times a month.

Salaries are negotiable between £55,000 and £75,000 basic + package
