Fabric Engineer needed for a well-known facilities management organisation based in Peterborough who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Fabric Engineer that takes pride in their work.
The successful candidate would perform scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance tasks on building fabrics, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors (including fire doors), and windows.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Fabric Engineer will include:
- Perform scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance tasks on building fabrics, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors (including fire doors), and windows.
- Carry out repairs to structural elements such as fixing cracks, leaks, and damaged surfaces.
- Provide painting, plastering, and decorating services to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the buildings.
- Undertake occasional installation and project works.
- Maintain up-to-date trade knowledge and qualifications to ensure safe and efficient performance of duties.
- Provide quotations for small works as required.
- Use the Maximo CAFM system to manage workload effectively.
- Ensure the prompt and accurate completion of associated paperwork.
- Advise on parts and labour requirements for additional works, interfacing with suppliers and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Oversee external contractors and escort them when required.
- Participate in the on-call rota as part of a team.
- Adhere to Health & Safety policies, ensuring compliance with all company policies, management plans, and procedures.
What experience you need to be the successful Fabric Engineer:
Essential:
- Understanding of maintenance requirements for building services and assets in a multi-site environment.
- Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Enhanced DBS Certification required.
Desirable:
- Formal qualifications up to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (carpentry or fabric-related trade).
- Previous experience working on PFI contracts, preferably within an educational environment.
- Understanding of Asset Maintenance and Lifecycle Works.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- Health & Safety / COSHH awareness.
