CAD Design Engineer / CAD TechnicianPermanent positionPeterborough£25k to £30k + benefits package

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented CAD Design Engineer or Technician to join our dynamic team. This permanent role offers fantastic opportunities for advancement and professional growth.

This would suit a relatively recent graduate, who has exposure to the areas mentioned in the advert below, but who wants to develop.

The CompanyEstablished for more than 20 years, my client has quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of industrial ventilation and extraction systems.

Working with a range of businesses, ranging from hotels and independent restaurants, through to public sector clients (schools, colleges, care homes etc.) as well as many major high street food chains.

Due to continued growth and an impressive order-book, they are now looking for an enthusiastic CAD Design Engineer or CAD Technician to join an established team and grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating design drawings for manufacturing – typically 2D with AutoCAD for sheet metal, including bend and cut points, brackets, supports and fixtures.
  • Creating 3D drawings with SolidWorks, including elevations and support plans.
  • Working with the Project Managers to establish the best design and ensuring the accuracy of the information that you’re receiving.
  • Discussing 2D drawings with the shop floor manufacturing teams and ensuring any amendments are carried out and recorded.

The PersonIn order to be considered you’ll need a few things in your locker:

  • Proficient AutoCAD skills and the ability to develop engineering designs (flat plans, cut, bend points) and progress these to the shop floor
  • Proficient SolidWorks skills and the ability to create 3D engineering drawings
  • Experience with sheet metal or enclosure design would be very useful
  • Excellent numerical skills, along with solid interpersonal skills and fluency within technical and colloquial English.  You’ll need to speak confidently with all levels of stakeholder.
  • A real desire to develop a career with a successful and growing company.
