Electrical Engineer to join a leading provider of communications solutions for the utility sector. As a skilled Electrical Engineer with proven electrical competence, this role offers the opportunity to work on various projects out in the field, providing experience across a diverse range of electrical fitting technical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical Panel Installation and Configuration:
    • Build and install electrical panels into equipment racks, ensuring secure and precise fixing to units and walls.
    • Work with low DC voltage systems and other related electrical installations.
    • Travel to site locations, fitting panels, and conducting wiring ducting to ensure proper integration.
    • Decommission and commission new ICB panels and electrical kits as required.
  2. Site-Based Communication Systems:
    • Install and run RF antennae along building exteriors for communication between RTU units.
    • Configure systems on-site using laptops and remote support from head office.
    • Perform point-to-point testing, including cell analyzer tests, to assess signal strength (e.g., 4G) for RTU communication.
    • Facilitate communication between RTU units through effective testing and troubleshooting.
  3. Maintenance, Inspection, and Testing:
    • Swap out old and outdated cabinets, ensuring clean and effective replacements.
    • Conduct comprehensive inspection and testing after installations, including PAT testing and earth loop assessments.
    • Evaluate both electrical and non-electrical systems for functionality and compliance.
    • Carry out regular site checks to ensure all systems are operating effectively.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with internal teams, receiving remote support as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with other RTU units to maintain seamless operation.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in electrical engineering, domestic or commercial, but with a willingness to adapt.
  • Familiarity with NICEIC standards and certification processes (highly advantageous as the company seeks accreditation).
  • Competence in configuring systems via laptops and receiving remote support.
  • Knowledge of RF antennae installation and RTU unit communication.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to various technical challenges.
