Aftertreatment System Development Engineer

Peterborough / Hybrid working - 3 days on-site per week

12 month contract

An exciting opportunity exists within the Component Engineering department to lead design and development of Exhaust System, across new and current products. 

Responsibilities include

  • Plan and deliver Aftertreatment system/ component development projects to time, cost and quality goals
  • Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R)
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques (8D); ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment
  • Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient and cost-effective
  • Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability
  • Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP
  • Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release
  • Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities
  • Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities

Qualifications & Experience Required of the Performance Systems Integration Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience)
  • 6+ years of engineering or relevant experience
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development
  • Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes
  • Self-motivated and able to manage and deliver complex projects to meet commitments
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork with both internal teams and external suppliers
  • Previous knowledge and experience of diesel engine development and new product introduction. Basic awareness of aftertreatment system function.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effectiveness of resolution
  • Experience of leading and participating in APQP, FMEA and DVP&R
  • Strong analytical skills, and experience of developing components and systems through simulation, rig testing and complete system testing
