Join a dynamic and fast-growing furniture manufacturer and wholesaler, where you’ll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive sustainability and ensure a responsibly managed supply chain. This is a unique opportunity to lead impactful initiatives that will shape the future of our business.We’re looking for a Compliance and Sustainability Specialist to take the lead on embedding ethical and sustainable practices throughout our operations. This role requires periodic travel to the Far East, where you’ll assess new suppliers and monitor existing factories to ensure compliance with ethical practices, quality standards, and customer requirements.Experience in a compliance role within the furniture industry is desirable, but we welcome applicants from other sectors with strong backgrounds in compliance, sustainability, or supply chain management.Key Responsibilities:
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Identify and implement sustainable practices, monitor progress, and report results to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supplier Compliance: Monitor supplier practices, assess risks, address non-conformances, and ensure alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Supply Chain Monitoring: Document and evaluate supply chains through tier management, supply chain mapping, and thorough documentation reviews.
  • Commerciality: Advocate for sustainability while providing commercially viable solutions that respect budget constraints and business realities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain, focusing on reducing waste, optimizing packaging, and implementing sustainable practices like FSC certification and circularity in product design and lifecycle management.
  • Policies and Procedures: Collaborate with Far East teams and factories to develop and enforce robust policies and procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure quality assurance through stringent factory processes and audits, meeting specific customer requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as the business expert on the latest sustainability technologies and techniques, and champion innovation in sustainability practices.
  • Environmental and Ethical Management: Oversee environmental and ethical practices, aligning with frameworks like HIGG, EUDR, SMETA, and other customer-specific action plans.
  • Customer Engagement: Lead customer meetings as the technical expert, showcasing your knowledge and solutions.
  • Internal Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver internal training programs to raise awareness of sustainability and compliance practices across all levels of the organisation.
