Senior Development Management Officer

As a result of continuing investment in our Planning Service, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Development Management Officer within Peterborough's Planning Team. Peterborough has an ambitious growth agenda and the role is key to supporting the Council’s aim of delivering high quality development in a timely and efficient manner. Located on the A1 and the East Coast Main Line, we are in a highly accessible location that makes us an attractive location for new business and homes. As a result, we are currently experiencing considerable growth and investment, including a new University, new Station Quarter and new cultural facilities in the city centre, as well as new urban extensions on the edge of the city, and many other developments of all scales. If you are looking to progress your career in town planning, then Peterborough is the place to be. As a planner with at least 3 years broad experience of development delivery and a planning or related degree, you will be experienced in dealing with householder and simple minor planning applications. You will be an effective communicator, and have good organisational, analytical and problem solving qualities, and in this role you will be working on an interesting and varied caseload of all types of applications ranging from minors to small scale major planning applications. You will also support our Principal planners on some really interesting major projects such as city centre developments or sustainable urban extensions to the city. The role also involves mentoring less experienced officers, driving up the quality of design and participating in service improvement projects.
