An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate KS1-KS3 Class Teacher to join a high-achieving, culturally rich primary school in April around the Peterborough area. This temporary role offers the chance to inspire and engage students aged 5-11 in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

  • Quality Teaching - we have restructured our teaching team to provide smaller class sizes for many of our children, which enables a greater amount of quality first teaching to take place.
  • Supportive & CollaborativeEnvironment - we maximise progress and engagement in learning through adopting and refining learning techniques that work well for our children. There is a high emphasis on talk and questioning to enable children to think and reason deeply about their learning. Feedback, including marking is given a high priority as we use it effectively to move learning on, consolidate or relearn from mistakes immediately or in dedicated follow up sessions. We also use the basics of accelerated learning techniques through TASC and enterprise activities within and beyond the curriculum.
  • A Sense of Success - we believe that children need to have the basic skills in place to access deeper learning so include daily reminder, rehearsal and refinement sessions on specific handwriting, calculation, tables, spelling, punctuation and grammar, to ensure that children develop fluency in these areas which enable them to access learning across the curriculum.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Key Stages 1 through Key Stages 3
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to student welfare.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • A passion for teaching, with a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in core subjects (e.g., math, English, science, social studies).
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Use creative and interactive teaching strategies (e.g., storytelling, games, experiments).
  • Prepare daily and weekly lesson plans in line with national/state curriculum standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational best practices and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
  • Design activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules to maintain a positive, respectful learning environment.
  • Manage student behaviour using positive reinforcement and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive classroom for all students.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments (quizzes, tests, projects).
  • Monitor and record student progress, identifying areas needing improvement whilst providing constructive feedback to students and parents through reports and meetings.
  • Foster social-emotional development through mentorship and guidance.
  • Hold regular parent-teacher meetings to discuss student progress.
