We have an opportunity for a Proving Test Technician to work on fabrication & welding projects fitting powertrains large commercial vehicles, on a 12 month renewable contract.

The successful applicant will have 3-5 years as a mechanic / mechanical fitter with some knowledge of welding & fabrication. This will be based in a team of ten technicians, five engineers and line Manager. We are looking for experience in drive / power trains and machinery, good knowledge of instrumentation and its application within the manufacturing process and experience in using hand power tools, lifting and welding equipment, so quite an all rounder in the manufacturing production line.

Job Description / Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Organisation's health and safety policy and safe working practices.

  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.
  • Follow and work to Engineers instructions to install prototype, pilot and production power-trains into machines.
  • Operate a multitude of different off-highway vehicles including but not limited to, Hydraulic Excavators, Back hoe Loaders, Telehandlers, Track Type Tractors where required.
  • Instrument power-trains installs with, thermo couples, pressure transducers, speed pickups and other forms of sensors.
  • Diagnose and fix a range of faults on both power-trains and machine.
  • Work from engineering drawings (electrical, mechanical and hydraulic)
  • Manufacture parts from drawings using in house facilities (machining, welding and fabrication and fully equipped electronics lab).
  • Produce electrical looms to interface power-train and machine.
  • Travel to various off site test and development facilities both company owned and 3rd Party (some overseas).
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM)
  • Undertake training and further learning as required.

This is a PAYE contract on a rate of c£16-20 per hour DOE with 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (33 Total). We also have a pension scheme that you are able to enrol in after 3 months qualification.
