Position: Lead Auditor

Location: Peterborough with hybrid working available

Salary Guide: 55-65k (Neg DOE), Car/Allowance and excellent benefits package

Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting eight long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.

Our client is part of Anglian Water's @one Alliance.

The Alliance is set to deliver a record 2.6 billion of the water company's overall investment in AMP8, with much of this work specifically targeted at protecting and enhancing the East of England's natural environment and providing resilience to climate change. This investment portfolio forms part of Anglian Water's wider, record 9 billion proposed plans for AMP8, which will see a huge programme of much-needed investment between 2025 and 2030.

The Role: This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most successful, award-winning, and progressive water sector capital delivery organisations. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance, risk management, and process improvements, working closely with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and best practice across the Alliance.

Ensure the effective planning, execution, and delivery of internal audits across operations. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of industry-leading water infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Audit Planning & Management and System Improvements

Develop an internal assurance planning and reporting process in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.

Design and execute operational audits to ensure compliance with the Alliance Management System (AMS).

Identify risks, recommend corrective actions, and drive operational efficiency.

  1. Stakeholder & Team Leadership

Lead and mentor the internal audit team, ensuring best practice is followed.

Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the audit process.

Act as the primary liaison with external auditors and certification bodies.

Promote a culture of learning, transparency, and continuous improvement across the Alliance.

3. Performance Trending & Data Analytics

Conduct macro-trend analysis of audit results to identify recurring issues and systemic risks.

Utilise key tools such as AMS, Power BI, and data analytics platforms to track performance.

Analyse KPIs to enhance processes and improve project execution.

Experience: Experience leading audits/audit teams, including 2nd or 3rd party audits

Knowledge of quality audit processes in construction (ideally in the water industry)

Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001

Lead Auditor Qualification

CSCS competence card

Skills: Strong leadership and people management skills

Open, honest, and clear communicator

Ability to influence leaders, managers, and frontline workers

Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills

Active listening and ability to engage teams effectively

High level of attention to detail and accuracy
