Job Opportunity: Project Manager

Location: Peterhead

Project: Eastern Green Link 2

Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, has been awarded several new substation, overhead line, and subsea cable route projects across the North of Scotland for their key client, SSEN.  We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Project Manager to join our team for the Eastern Green Link 2 project in Peterhead. This project aims to boost Scotland's renewable energy capacity and provide clean energy for two million homes in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Oversight:

  • Manage all aspects of the project, ensuring successful outcomes and high professionalism.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with everyone involved in the project and the broader community.

Direction and Example:

  • Provide strategic, operational, and contractual guidance to the project team.
  • Lead by example in health, safety, and environmental matters, including conducting safety tours and supporting HSQE initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of environmental awareness and behavior.

Quality and Mentorship:

  • Ensure quality delivery through effective planning and execution.
  • Mentor and develop key staff to advance their careers.

Team Management:

  • Lead the project team, fostering commitment, morale, and motivation at all levels.
  • Promote cost-effective management by using resources efficiently.

Client Relationships:

  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the client, their project management team, and the supply chain.
  • Promote repeat business by staying in contact with key clients and stakeholders and showing commitment to their needs.

Financial and Programme Management:

  • Establish and monitor a cost management system for financial control and reliable reporting.
  • Ensure realistic project programmes are prepared, managed, and updated as needed.

Process and Systems:

  • Implement and review method statements, activity plans, and risk assessments regularly.
  • Ensure commercial and financial management systems are in place for project success.
  • Make necessary site-based appointments with trained and experienced staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or HND in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience as a Project Manager or Senior Agent in Civil Engineering contracting.
  • Proven leadership and management capabilities.
  • Detailed knowledge of civil construction and contract forms.
  • Experience in construction project delivery.
