Role: Accounts Senior

Location: PlymouthSalary: £30-35k

Overview:

As an Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of financial statements, managing client accounts, and providing insightful advice to a diverse range of businesses. You'll be working in a fast-paced, supportive environment, with opportunities to develop your technical and managerial skills as you go.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients (corporates, sole traders, partnerships)
  • Review and preparation of tax returns and VAT returns during busy periods
  • Managing client relationships, providing advice and support on accounting and financial matters
  • Supervision and development of junior staff
  • Preparation of management accounts and budgeting
  • Liaising with HMRC and handling compliance matters
  • Contributing to client meetings and offering strategic advice

Skills and Experience:

  • AAT/ACA/ACCA part or fully qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in practice
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and tax compliance
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
