Hays are seeking an Interim Financial Accountant to support their Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Controller. This high-profile role is crucial within their finance function, driving financial compliance and reporting.Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare weekly short-term cash flow forecasts and provide accurate presentations for stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated group management accounts with variance analysis and commentary.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and respond to auditor queries.
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Support the preparation of annual tax returns and compliance.
  • Manage information for HMRC and national statistic reporting.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely reporting.
  • Lead and mentor finance team members, developing PowerBI solutions where possible.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support financial business partnering across operational areas.
  • Contribute to the development of financial plans for savings and value improvement.
  • Prepare statistical reports to identify trends and improvements.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements.
  • Undertake project work as required.
  • Ensure all processes align with company standards and act as an ambassador for the company.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness of the company's products, customers, and markets.
  • Promote the business as a market leader.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Adherence to reporting timetables and tax/reporting deadlines.
  • Production of financial PE reporting slides and data requests.
  • Effective management of external auditors.

Strategic Interface:

  • Liaise regularly with Site Directors, Operational Managers, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Logistics.

Person Specification:

  • Newly or part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) and a member of the equivalent professional body.
  • Financial experience in the manufacturing sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to lead change positively.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, and resilient.
  • Efficient approach to tasks and timely delivery.
  • High standard of IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Power BI.
  • High level of commercial acumen.
  • Composure under pressure and experience in challenging circumstances.
