Chief Executive Officer – Havencare 

Salary: From £85,000

Location: Plymouth Head Office, with offices in South Devon and Redruth. Regional and national travel required, with some remote working

Contract: Full-time

Havencare is a well-established and progressive charity with over 35 years of experience providing homes and support for and people with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we are dedicated to supporting the life people choose in a home that is right for them.

Our charity currently owns 9 properties and manages an additional 12 through lease and letting arrangements, supporting and housing people across Penzance to Teignmouth. With over 250 dedicated staff members and three regional offices (Plymouth Head Office, South Devon, and Redruth), we take pride in our values-driven approach and commitment to providing person-led support.

Looking to the future, Havencare’s next exciting chapter is to become a Registered Provider of Social Housing, enabling us to help even more people find a home that is right for them.

About the Role 

As our next Chief Executive Officer, you will lead Havencare into this transformative new era, building on strong foundations while delivering our 3 big aims. A key focus of your role will be reaching more people with outstanding person-led support and driving our ambition to become a Registered Provider of Social Housing. 

In this role, you will inspire, motivate, and lead an experienced, skilled and dedicated team who are passionate about delivering person-led high-quality support and housing solutions. Drawing on internal and external insights you will identify opportunities and mitigate risks, maintain and develop meaningful strategic partnerships, and uphold our reputation as an innovative and supportive organisation.

About You 

You will be a strategic and inspiring leader who can connect with diverse groups of people and foster meaningful relationships. You will have the ability to align teams to a shared mission and lead with authenticity and clarity. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Proven leadership experience in delivering impact across similar activities
  • Understanding of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks in support and housing
  • Ability to advocate effectively for vulnerable populations at a strategic level
  • Strategic ability to connect, inspire and deliver success
  • Experience in aligning diverse teams to a common mission, building on an inclusive organisational culture
  • A natural connector across diverse people, fostering relationships with ease and authenticity
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience of strategic and operational risk reporting, planning and management
  • Financially astute with budgeting and reporting experience of a similar complexity
  • Experience working with or at Board level including with NEDs, or Trustees
  • Demonstrable analytical skills to address challenges with forward-thinking solutions
