Site Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Site Assistant to ensure the security and maintenance of a local Plymouth school. The role involves routine maintenance, minor repairs, redecoration, and minibus driving duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the academy site to a high standard and ensuring a safe environment for all.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Supervise building works and projects, ensuring contractor compliance and reporting issues to the Business and Operations Manager.
  • Assist in the delivery of site projects and refurbishment programmes, including decoration and general building tasks.
  • Communicate premises and health and safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Respond to emails and defect reports, ensuring the security of the school buildings and contents.
  • Open and close the school site, manage emergency call-outs, and maintain security systems.
  • Undertake essential maintenance work and ensure compliance checks are completed.
  • Monitor contracts for servicing and inspection to comply with legislation.
  • Manage facilities during lettings and deal with emergencies such as burst pipes or fires.
  • Keep the site free of litter and graffiti, clear snow, and ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety regulations, and security systems.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks and operate maintenance equipment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and basic IT skills.
