Finance ManagerPlymouth, Devon£40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Our client, a leading organisation in the charity sector, is currently seeking a skilled Finance Manager, to join their dynamic finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Finance Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the Finance Department, supervise junior team members, and prepare monthly financial reports. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting grant claims and other project reports as needed.

The responsibilities:

  • Oversee accurate ledger input, budget management, staff cost allocations, and ensure timely invoicing, payments, and petty cash management.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts, control accounts, and monthly reconciliations, while maintaining fixed assets.
  • Manage payroll and statutory submissions, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow, conduct monthly account checks, prepare year-end fund summaries, and support the annual financial statements audit.
  • Prepare and analyse monthly project reports, forecasts, and grant/contract claims, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Liaise with funding bodies and auditors to address project queries, and calculate full economic costs for approval and external user access.
  • Assist with proposal submissions, ensuring accurate financial information, and consult with external bodies on the annual funding allocation.
  • Line manage two Finance Assistants, handle daily inquiries, provide financial analysis and management reports, and undertake ad hoc tasks.

The candidate:

  • Qualified or experienced accountancy professional (e.g., CMA, ACCA) with extensive experience in reviewing and analysing financial data.
  • Proven experience managing a small team and handling payroll.
  • Proactive analytical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with other reporting tools.
  • Desirable experience working with UK and EU grant funding would be highly desirable.
