Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive – Contentious Trusts and Probate

Location: PlymouthJob Type: Full-time - Hybrid Working 

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive specialising in contentious trust and probate to join our dynamic dispute resolution department. This role offers significant opportunities for career progression and the chance to play a central role in expanding the firm’s contentious probate services.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Manage a caseload of predominantly contentious trusts and probate work.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members within this specialty.
  • Collaborate closely with the head of the dispute resolution department to grow and develop this part of the department.
  • Work across multiple office locations, with flexibility depending on the candidate’s preference.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3+ years PQE as a Solicitor or Legal Executive, or equivalent experience in contentious trusts and probate.
  • Strong experience in handling a variety of cases such as:
    • Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
    • Will validity challenges.
    • Mutual wills disputes.
    • Property claims involving trusts and proprietary estoppel.
    • Disputes between beneficiaries and executors/trustees.
    • Claims brought under TOLATA 1996.
  • Knowledge of civil procedure within the High Court, particularly the Chancery Division.
  • Enthusiasm for and vision towards the growth of the firm’s contentious trusts and probate offering.
