Job Title: Full-time SEND Learning Mentors
Location: Plymouth
Salary: £83.33 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary, Long-term (Permanent opportunities for the right candidate)

GSL Education is currently supporting an SEND school in Plymouth in their search for full-time Learning Mentors. These positions are long-term with the potential to become permanent for the right candidates.

The school provides a personalised, wrap-around education for students with complex needs or EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans), who are at risk of requiring residential education placements. Many of the students have not thrived in mainstream or special schools and some are returning from out-of-county placements.

Each student benefits from high levels of support, often including one-to-one assistance and bespoke timetables that follow thematic learning experiences. The aim is to engage students, build resilience, and lay the foundation for accelerated academic progress through a combination of in-class and out-of-class learning.

Key details:

  • Multiple settings across KS1 and KS2
  • Several vacancies available
  • A UK driving license and access to your own vehicle is required for these roles

These roles demand resilience, as the children present challenging behaviors. We are seeking committed individuals ready to take on this rewarding challenge.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with SEND children in the UK
  • Be comfortable working in challenging 1:1 environments
  • Be available to work full-time
  • Hold a UK driving license and have access to a vehicle
  • Be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual, able to lead by example
  • Have strong behaviour management skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, colleagues, and parents

We welcome applications from individuals who can contribute to the ongoing success of this team and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. NQTs/ECTs and Overseas Trained Teachers (OTTs) are also encouraged to apply.

Please note that this role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must pass a thorough background check, including an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
