Shift Engineer

My client is seeking a Shift Engineer to support the efficient operation of their factory through both maintenance and reactive repair.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prioritise attending to the plant’s reactive needs while also progressing other repairs and projects as required.
  • Engage in proactive tasks including projects, line improvements, offline repairs, and planned maintenance.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance to all plant, equipment, services, and buildings as needed, including fault finding and repairs.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance and monitoring according to schedules.
  • Assist with developing and implementing line improvements.
  • Record and communicate all findings effectively.
  • Assist with projects and the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment.
  • Liaise with external contractors as required.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and the management team to meet targets on safety, quality, output, efficiency, energy, and waste.
  • Communicate effectively with the Engineering Manager on all engineering and production issues.
  • Assist in controlling department budgets.
  • Maintain flexibility in the role, covering scheduled holidays, additional hours, absences, and call-outs as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Apprentice trained in a building trade or equivalent with an associated qualification.
  • Relevant experience in an engineering role, ideally in a high-volume production environment.
  • Strong understanding of production plant and equipment and basic mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Skills in multiple areas including fault finding (electrical and mechanical), bench fitting, servicing, fabrication, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and installation.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues promptly.
