Salary: Betweeen 14.57 per hour
Location: YO42, York
Hours: Monday-Friday- 9am - 5pm
Till August 2025

Overall Purpose:

To lead the shift in the preparation and cooking of high quality and appetising meals and snacks in line with approved meals plans / recipes, including those for special dietary and modification requirements. To support the Senior Cook in the management and ordering of stock, and ensuring items are stored appropriately.

This role involves a work pattern that includes weekends and bank holiday.

Able to plan menus that meet the needs of all customers who may have a range of special dietary requirements. Knowledge of legislation and policies relating to food handling and preparation of meals.

Able to use kitchen equipment confidently and safely.

Is organised, resilient, works on own initiative, can solve problems and is clear, thorough and accurate.

Principal Accountabilities
1. To oversee the kitchen service, and kitchen assistants during the shift.

2. Prepare and cook a range of meals in line with meal plans / recipes that are high quality, suitable for those with specific needs and appetising.

3. Follow specific standards and guidelines when preparing and cooking meals for those with special dietary requirements, including those that require modification and the use of medical products such as thickeners.

4. Adapt menus and meal plans to ensure that options are available for those with specific dietary requirements and resident preference.

5. Serve food and beverages that consider resident's needs, dietary requirements, and preference, and in line with portion guidelines.

6. Clean the kitchen in line with cleaning schedule and guidelines to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards.

7. Ensure all food safety standards are followed and records, such as temperatures, are accurately recorded.
