Food Production Manager

Are you an experienced Production Manager looking for an exciting opportunity? Join a leading Food Manufacturing company specialising in Fresh Produce at their East Yorkshire site. As a Production Manager, you will oversee the delicate and efficient harvesting of fresh produce, ensuring top-notch quality and productivity.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join our client's team. As a Production Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimising daily operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.

The successful candidate is tasked with the responsibility of mentoring the wider team, improving operational efficiency, and prioritising food safety.

Harvest Production Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve picking targets by ensuring quality and quantity per picker.
  • Create manning plans for growing rooms and manage staffing needs.
  • Make staffing and recruitment decisions.
  • Assess crops daily and plan accordingly to meet yield expectations.
  • Maximise crop yield and quality through proper graze picking.
  • Maintain high standards for product presentation.
  • Attend daily operations meetings to plan for the next day.
  • Coordinate with packhouse sales to fulfil customer orders.
  • Ensure new staff follow safe systems of work.
  • Foster a positive and cohesive team environment.
  • Collaborate with various managers to address team, yield, and machinery issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate picking statistics, using disciplinary procedures if necessary.
  • Address performance and safety issues promptly.
  • Promote industry best practices and new technologies.
  • Adhere to food safety culture, legislation, and company policies.
  • Participate in the site's Food Safety, HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP teams.
  • Follow GMP and housekeeping standards.
  • Minimise waste and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all work complies with FSA and health and safety legislation.

Harvest Production Manager Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and handle multiple projects.
  • Experience working in a role at a similar level
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff members
  • Confident and assertive communication skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
