Tooling Designer Engineer - SolidWorks Permanent Full-TimeSalary - Circa £40,000 DOELocation - In office, PontyclunWe're excited to support a leading, innovative provider of high-quality tooling and manufacturing solutions, specialising in the design and production of precision tools across a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, and consumer goods. Their expertise spans tool design, die making, injection moulding, and CNC machining.They're looking for a Tooling Design Engineer proficient in SolidWorks or similar software to create 3D tool designs, advise on materials and manufacturing methods, and collaborate on R&D. You will attend customer meetings, assist with reverse engineering and installations, support global sales, and work closely with the manufacturing team on tool assembly and testing.Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Constructing 3D tool designs in SolidWorks to meet customer requirements and target costs
  • Producing tool parts lists for tool manufacture, advising on material selection and manufacturing methods
  • Participating in the company's R&D and innovation programme for product development
  • Attending technical meetings with customers at our UK plant or globally to take design briefs or conduct design reviews
  • Working as part of a small team, collaborating on larger designs and ensuring quality assurance of team members' work
  • Attending customer premises to reverse engineer parts and assist with installations as needed
  • Supporting the sales team with global sales development
  • Working closely with the manufacturing team on the development, assembly, and testing of tool designs

Experiences required

  • Competent in 3D modelling using SolidWorks or similar (Solid Edge, Inventor, Fusion 360, Onshape, CATIA, Creo, Rhino)
  • Academic background in engineering or time-served equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in pressed tooling design or similar (injection moulds, jigs & fixtures, casting dies, forming)
  • Able to create detailed technical drawing packs for manufacture (DFM)
