Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Glascoed on a contract basis. This role focuses on equipment acquisition as part of the NGMS contract, with a commitment to upgrade, renew, and replace various pieces of machinery across the site. The position requires working in the office for 3-4 days per week over a 12-month period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generating and reviewing requirements specifications
- Liaising with equipment manufacturers and suppliers
- Conducting equipment trials and activities related to the procurement of bespoke machinery
- Managing and organising site manufacturing plant and equipment investment for the NGMS Project
- Developing, maintaining, and delivering legally compliant business cases for site plant and equipment
- Preparing and controlling technical requirements specifications and scopes of work
- Evaluating tender returns and placing contracts for outsourced works
- Generation and evaluation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permits to Work
- Assessing contractor competency and managing work control
- Maintaining competency skill matrices and overseeing personnel development
- Conducting COSHH Hazard and Risk Assessments
Job Requirements:
- Experience in manufacturing, particularly within the defence and security sectors
- Understanding of equipment acquisition and procurement processes
- Strong organisational and management skills
- Ability to develop and maintain business cases for site plant and equipment
- Proficiency in preparing technical specifications and scopes of work
- Experience in generating and evaluating risk assessments and method statements
- Excellent communication and liaison skills with manufacturers and suppliers
- Attention to detail and adherence to compliance and safety regulations
