About the Company
My client is a leading provider of energy, renewables, and insulation solutions in South Wales. The company has grown through acquisitional growth in recent years and as a result is seeking to recruit a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Management Accountant to work closely with the Finance Manager and to join its close-knit finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to progress their career in management accounting, gaining exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis over time.
The role will ideally someone who is able to hit the ground running, and who possesses a can-do attitude and who over time is keen to take on more responsibility.
Reporting into the Finance Manager the key responsibilities will include -
- Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
- Assist in performing variance analysis, providing commentary on financial performance.
- Assist with reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
- Assist in the preparation and submit VAT returns.
- Managing the payroll schedules and journals.
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Contribute to process improvements within the finance function.
- Provide cover for other members of the finance team.
- Ad-hoc finance tasks as requested.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Either AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA.
- Previous experience in a finance role, ideally within some exposure to management accounting.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (ideally Sage).
- Ability to work with big data, pivots tables and Lookups.
- Solid understanding of double entry.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across teams.
