Acorn by Synergie are recruiting on behalf of a Public Sector client for a Payroll and Pensions Officer to work on a temporary basis.

This is a Hybrid role with time spent in the office in Pontypridd and homeworking.

37 hours per week and 18.5 hours per week

Location Hybrid

Pay rate 14.50 per hour

As a Payroll and Pensions Officer, you will undertake a range of Payroll and Pensions activities. You will have practical experience of Payroll and Pensions activities and ideally will be conversant with current HMRC statutory regulations and calculations.

You will work as part of the central Payroll team within Human Resources Department to provide a highly effective and responsive customer focused Payroll and Pensions service

You will provide advice and support to staff, managers, and other colleagues covering Payroll matters such as calculations of pay, HMRC compliance and statutory deductions, pensions administration, and general guidance on Payroll related policies and procedures.

Skills and experience

  • Full or part CIPP qualified or proven experience within Payroll environment
  • Excellent IT skills, especially in Excel and Microsoft office suite and the ability to use Payroll Management Information for reporting and reconciliation
  • Excellent organisational skills, be methodical and able to multitask
  • General understanding of current compliance matters HMRC, Pensions Regulator, Salary sacrifice, GDPR, Welsh Language and other payroll related legislation with ability/experience to interpret and advise managers and staff accordingly
