Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our South West depot. This role is perfect for a natural leader who is passionate about driving and influencing positive change. You will work closely with other regional operations managers to ensure operational excellence across our sites. This is a full-time position offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop the operational team to ensure that targets are met across health and safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people metrics.
  • Customer Service: Ensure service standards exceed expectations, building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and staff. Implement and develop strategies to attract and retain customers.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor and manage compliance activities, ensuring alignment with business policies, procedures, and control plans. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all locations.
  • Fiscal Management: Oversee the fiscal performance with a solid understanding of P&L, ensuring financial targets are met. Support management teams in day-to-day operations and lead group-wide initiatives.
  • Strategic Planning: Align with the strategic plan and report progress to the board. Stay focused on both customer and employee needs, engaging effectively at all business levels.
  • Staff Development: Recruit, motivate, engage, and develop staff to maintain an effective workplace. Promote a strong, positive culture in line with our company values.
  • Sales & Upselling: Support your team in promoting products and services through upselling techniques, recognizing and nurturing aftermarket opportunities.
  • Change Management: Lead and manage change within the business, reviving poor operational performance, and ensuring the successful implementation of ISO Accreditation and other standards.
  • Technology & Data Management: Competently use Microsoft and data systems, with experience in relevant software systems being desirable.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within an operational environment. Candidates with backgrounds in Material Handling, Equipment Hire, M&E Engineering, or Transport/Logistics are preferred.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading teams, with a forward-thinking approach and experience in reviving poor business performance.
  • Change Management: Proficient in change management processes and in coaching and developing teams.
  • ISO Accreditation: Experience in the successful implementation of ISO standards.
