Our client based in Poole has a requirement for an experienced Production Engineer to support the introduction of new products into production looking at process control documents, tooling, line layout etc. The production engineer will also act as a support mechanism for production operators when issues arise, this may result in basic problem solving and issue resolution. The production engineer will also be involved in lean initiatives and seek to optimise the production process through waste elimination and six sigma projects.

Your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Support the integration of new products into production by identifying and installing work instruction, correct tooling, JIGs and fixtures, line layout etc and is completed ensuring the maximum efficiency is obtained and maintained.
  • Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing and reviewing standard work methods and work instructions
  • Identifying areas to maximise efficiency, reduce process waste and execute six sigma projects to improve business efficiency.
  • Training and development of production staff to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures and maintain quality standards.
  • Conduct PFMEA as a part of the Project Lifecycle Process
  • Carry out post build reviews in the pre-production phase of the NPI projects

Applicants must have recent experience of working as a Production Engineer and hold an HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Industrial or Production Engineering.

Previous exposure to lean manufacturing methods and quality methodologies such as 5S Kanban, 6-sigma (Green Belt or higher) would be a distinct advantage, as would experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Autodesk Inventor) on equipment, systems and components.

You will have a desire to identify and implement improvements.

Experience of the production engineering of castings, injection moulding, gear design and assemblytechniques would be a distinct advantage, as would experience of flowline manufacture.
