The role of Electrical Compliance Manager will be overseeing all aspects of product, factory, environmental, customer and business compliance to ensure we meet all the legislative requirements for electrical products for the UK and EU such as IEC60598.
The successful candidate will be working within the electrical or electronics sector and have a good understanding of the required standards. This could be from an inhouse manufacturing environment or working with outsourced manufacturing.
Travel to the Far East to meet with suppliers / visit factories will form part of the role - approx. 2 to 3 trips per annum.
Objectives:
- Manage the UK compliance team effectively to ensure all product testing compliance obligations are being achieved (Responsible for the Assistant Compliance Manager & Junior Compliance Analyst)
- Proactively communicate new legislative requirements to all relevant stakeholders and support the compliance team to effectively implement any necessary changes to processes or procedures.
- Represent the business at customer and supplier technical and product regulatory meetings
- Set and control departmental budgets and monitor output to ensure financial targets are achieved
- Manage the China-based auditing team proactively to ensure all factory, environmental, and customer compliance obligations are being achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that every product meets all relevant (legislative, customer and internal) regulations and requirements and that internal systems, policies and technical files are maintained.
- Complete customer-specific compliance questionnaires and data submissions as required.
- Engage with the LIA to represent the organisation in the formulation or modification of standards. Utilise the early access opportunities to filter down necessary amendments to internal processes or procedures.
- Conduct regular update sessions with internal teams to provide technical support and product enhancement ideas
- Oversee the organisation’s annual ISO 9001 & 14001 audits and ensure improvements to processes or procedures are implemented.
- Manage factory auditing to ensure factories are always fully compliant with external customer ethical, social, technical and environmental auditing requirements.
- Conduct regular meetings with the China-based auditing team to review progress, manage schedules and to train and develop continuous improvement strategies at core factory sites
- Oversee financial performance of the compliance department. Including budget setting, monitoring and delivering cost-saving opportunities.
Skills and experience
- Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with an in-depth knowledge of electrical standards such as IEC60598
- Formal Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering - Desirable
- Experience in ISO9001 & 14001 would be useful
- Experience of factory auditing would be useful
