Buyer - Based Poole

Basic salary up to £38,000 plus excellent benefits

My client is currently looking to recruit a Buyer who has a minimum of two years’ experience of working in similar purchasing role within a manufacturing/engineering environment and is ideally studying towards the CIPS professional qualification.

As a Buyer you will play a pivotal role in sourcing the correct products and services at the right time and price in line with MRP requirements. You will also support the business plan and predicted stock levels.

As a Buyer you will have a good understanding and working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems with experience of 'Pull Systems’ Kanban, with the ability to read technical engineering drawings and be able to demonstrate good stock control experience.

Duties

  • You will be responsible for purchasing components as required and directed in line with requirements generated via the MRP system, ensuring OTIF requirements are fully achieved, and review the MRP rescheduling requirements and make informed decisions from outcome.
  • You will continually review all the data and suggest changes to buying & stocking patterns to optimize best practice e.g. improve stock turns, reduce stock, lead time, cost saving etc.
  • Ensure flow lines are fully stocked in accordance with production requirements
  • Attend site visits to suppliers to establish core strengths and build sound and professional supplier relationships
  • Ensure all purchasing activities are completed in a controlled and professional manner in line with business demands
  • Consult with suppliers to ensure quality, commercial and delivery targets are achieved in keeping with the business requirement
  • Provide any information and support as required to departmental managers and other internal customers which will include but not be limited to delivery dates and pricing for products.
  • Proactively expedite of outstanding orders with suppliers to ensure there is no impact on production schedules
  • Assist in the development of suppliers in line with the needs of the business and in accordance with the supplier reduction and rationalisation program.
  • Assist in the reduction of inventory by purchasing parts in an appropriate manner in line with appropriate logistics and inventory replenishment systems with suppliers.
