Our client, a pioneering engineering company specialising in the design, optimisation and supply of cutting-edge solutions for the maritime industry is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and development of current and future projects, working alongside top industry experts. You will take ownership of mechanical systems from concept to production, contributing to the advancement of industry-leading technology.

The Role:

Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary design and development team to generate and refine design concepts through to production, ensuring all project requirements are met for function, quality, timing, and cost

Work on a variety of projects, from large-scale fabricated structures to one-off prototypes

Take a leading role in significant programs or manage or smaller projects, working closely with the technical lead engineer

Deliver the design of components and systems in line with company processes and standards

Serve as a technical liaison with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and internal stakeholders

Participate in the completion of DFMEAs and manage external resources as needed



Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Marine or Aerospace Engineering

Extensive experience with a major CAD System (preferably NX), including the production of detailed drawings with correct GD&T and DFM application

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles with the ability to perform design calculations

Experience in designing both metallic and composite components is highly desirable

Deep knowledge of materials, welding, bonding, and fastening techniques

Self-motivated with a commitment to taking ownership of tasks and achieving challenging goals.
