About the Role

We are seeking a Tooling Project Co-ordinator to join my client's team and manage tooling projects from inception to delivery. Working closely with tooling, you will combine technical knowledge with project management expertise to coordinate workflows into production. Your ability to interpret machining plans, communicate effectively with the toolroom, and ensure customer needs are met will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Tooling Projects: Oversee all aspects of tooling projects from sales to customer delivery, ensuring timelines, costs, and quality standards are met.
  • Lead Meetings: Facilitate project management meetings, identify risks, create recovery plans, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Technical Support: Review machining plans, interpret technical requirements, and liaise with the toolroom to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with Sales Managers, Design Engineers, and Production Teams to create and communicate timing plans and resolve delays effectively.
  • Cost Monitoring: Track project costs, identify recoveries, and provide feedback to improve quoting accuracy and efficiency for future work.
  • Process Optimization: Promote "Design for Manufacture and Assembly" principles, ensuring robust and efficient tooling production processes.
  • Delivery Improvement: Support capacity optimization and work scheduling to achieve on-time delivery metrics of >95%.

Support Responsibilities

  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools for project tracking, data management, and reporting.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team leaders while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and business standards, including TS16949, ISO14001, and ISO9001.

What We're Looking For

  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of tooling processes with the ability to interpret machining plans and communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills to coordinate workflows and meet customer expectations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, able to present and interpret complex information clearly.
  • Software Proficiency: High-level competence in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
