Our client provides professional and high-quality construction, refurbishment, building maintenance and facilities management services across the south of England to around 5,000+ buildings including, universities, Social Housing, Council buildings, Office buildings and Leisure Accommodation.

They are seeking and experienced plumber who will carry out a mobile role to cover our contracts in Southampton, Fareham, Portsmouth & the Isle of Wight however, there may be the requirement to cover our contracts based in Wider Hampshire, Horsham, Woking & Windsor. 

For this role you will be allocated a set area for a period of 3 days to 2 weeks (possibly longer depending on the project). The work you carry out will based on skillset and would be a mixture of day-to-day reactive maintenance, void works and minor project works.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A wide variety of domestic and commercial plumbing repairs for local authorities (reactive and void works), education providers in occupied student accommodation, commercial buildings, lecture theatres, and offices and along with works in ancient monuments. The work will include fitting of various types of doors (including fire doors), first and second fixing carpentry, kitchen installations, ceramic wall tiling, carpet tiling, plumbing repairs and minor decorative works, various servicing of PPM and reactive first-time fix repairs. Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trades related repair requests.

  • To ensure that the quality of work meets the highest possible standards at all times.
  • Support all trades to deliver a professional and safe maintenance and repairs service.
  • Respond swiftly to all emergency situations and resolve them efficiently.
  • Keep the customer/office up to date with progress and plans.
  • Undertake all work efficiently and cost effectively, minimising non-productive time wherever

Possible. Apply applicable Health & Safety rules in all you do, using risk assessments, method statements and PPE when needed.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Fit & Fix Mortice Latch and Latch set, Door Hanging, Door Lining and Rebated frame work
  • All aspects of kitchen installation with mitred worktop joints (internal & external) where applicable 
  • Be able to demonstrate you are a competent tradesperson and have the tools to do the work.
  • Have the prerequisite technical, statutory, and legislative knowledge for the trades you perform for the company ensuring you keep abreast of updates and changes.
  • Know the materials and methods used in the building and maintenance industry.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

  • NVQ level 2-3 in Carpentry or equivalent.
  • Trade-based experience may be considered.
  • Must be willing to undergo a DBS check
  • Must be competent in 2 other secondary skills

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 – 5 yrs. experience of working in Social Housing or Building Maintenance environments.
  • A full, clean current driving licence is needed so you can drive one of our vans.
