A leading organisation in the utility sector is on the lookout for an IT Programme Manager with a strong background in ERP solution implementation and strategic technology programme management. The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading complex technology and business change programmes, engaging with senior stakeholders, and managing third-party relationships. This role is pivotal in driving the transformation of our business, aligning strategic vision with actionable plans, and fostering continuous improvement.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead the delivery of IT programmes that are key to the business roadmap, from initiation to delivery and benefits tracking.
  • Define programme outcomes, goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Govern the schedule, costs, and quality of the programme.
  • Optimise the five-year capital programme, collaborating with stakeholders to drive efficiency and manage delivery.
  • Manage the pipeline and roadmap, developing key projects and understanding their impact and cross-dependencies.
  • Engage with all levels of the company, including project delivery teams, senior executives, and the board.
  • Develop and manage the resource plan, team performance, and relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Matrix manage large programme teams with internal, contract, and third-party resources.
  • Engage and manage third-party suppliers and service providers essential to programme delivery.
  • Report key programme information and maintain stakeholder communication.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience leading complex IT programmes and projects, with values up to £5m.
  • Proficiency in guiding change within an IT delivery environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, including at the executive level.
  • In-depth understanding of delivering software products and services.
  • Experience in managing matrix teams and using agile and waterfall delivery techniques.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, APM) is essential.
  • Strong financial management skills with experience managing projects up to £15m.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Visio.
  • Experience in the water industry or related sectors is desirable.
  • Effective communication skills, including writing business cases and board reports.
  • Ability to guide business change and develop engagement plans.
