About the Role

As a Senior Management Accountant based in Preston, you will play a key role in driving the management accounts function, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting. You will oversee month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and the production of meaningful management information, while also mentoring and developing junior team members.

This role offers a wide variety of responsibilities, including involvement in ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a challenging environment, enjoys working to high standards, and is passionate about fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Month-End Management Accounts: Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, including journals, overhead reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, payables, and receivables).

  • Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop junior colleagues, supporting their professional growth and contributing to a positive team culture.

  • Risk Management: Ensure all team outputs, including balance sheet reconciliations, comply with regulatory and internal standards. Document processes and controls to maintain robust financial governance.

  • Management Information: Produce accurate and insightful management information to support decision-making across the business.

  • Project Support: Contribute to key projects, by providing financial expertise and solutions.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other finance teams to adopt best practices and drive continuous improvement.
