Our client, a key delivery partner within the United Utilities region, is currently seeking an experienced Freelance P6 Planner to support a portfolio of clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team delivering critical AMP8 programmes in the North West.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing, managing, and maintaining detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 for design and construction activities across multiple water projects.
- Working closely with project and commercial teams to align programmes with contract deliverables and key milestones.
- Identifying and managing critical paths, risks, and resource constraints.
- Preparing and presenting regular progress updates, lookaheads, and recovery plans.
- Liaising with supply chain partners and integrating subcontractor schedules into the master programme.
- Supporting earned value analysis, delay impact assessments, and change control processes.
- Contributing to monthly client reporting and planning workshops.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience planning water infrastructure or utilities projects - ideally within AMP frameworks (AMP7/AMP8).
- Strong Primavera P6 expertise.
- Solid understanding of NEC contract planning principles.
- Ability to work independently and liaise confidently with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong reporting and communication skills.
- Flexibility to be site/office-based in Preston, with some remote working possible.
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience working with or for United Utilities or on similar water frameworks.
- Familiarity with project controls tools such as Power BI or Excel-based reporting dashboards.
- Engineering or construction-related qualifications.
