An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a KS1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a friendly and supportive primary school in PR2, Preston. Starting September 2025, this role offers you the chance to make a tangible difference in a child's educational journey by creating a safe, engaging, and emotionally secure learning space.

You'll play a key role in helping the child manage their daily school experience, build confidence, and achieve personal and academic milestones all while being supported by a dedicated teaching team who understand the power of patient, individualised learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilisation and development of 1:1 resources.
  • Experience working with SEN pupils
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and TA's to organise appropriate activities.
  • Liaise with other professionals such as Teacher's, TA, specialist support staff.
  • Work closely with other LSA's and support staff.
  • Work with classes, small groups and with children on a one to one basis.
  • Prepare and develop class displays.
  • Keep up to date records of the pupil's progress and contribute to the child's EHCP plan.
  • Create a calm environment where learning can take place.

Essential requirements:

  • Work on a 1:1 or small group basis with children who have Special Educational Needs
  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people.
  • Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style.
  • TA qualified. L2/3.
