We are currently recruiting for an Mechanical Maintenance  Engineer for a market leading manufacturing business based in Preston

This is a permanent role that has been created due to continued expansion and business growth.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background working within an FMCG / Industrial maintenance based role within a manufacturing environment. Experience working Hydraulics/ Pneumatics / Motors/ pumps/ Conveyors  is a must. Experience with Electrical Maintenance is also advantageous including PLC Fault Finding.

This is a shift based role working 4 on 4 off (2 Days 6AM - 6PM +  2 Nights 6PM - 6AM)

Candidates must be time served with a demonstrable background in Mechanical Maintenance.

Role Description

  • To ensure all equipment is in a safe & serviceable condition to maintain & enhance performance of all machinery
  • Reduce engineering downtime, respond rapidly to machine failures & breakdowns
  • Undertake projects and assist with all on-site installations
  • To always keep open and clear lines of communication with management and fellow colleagues
  • To undertake, develop & improve planned maintenance schedules
  • To prioritise work within the engineering department & deploy resources accordingly
  • To identify training needs or ‘weak spots’ within the department
  • To ensure all equipment is in a safe & serviceable condition to maintain & enhance performance of all machinery within the corrugating / conversion plant

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience working within a maintenance role within a Fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Candidates must be Time Served with a demonstrable background in Mechanical Maintenance 
  • Familiar with Simens PLC’s
  • Knowledge of Mechanical systems including Conveyors/ Hydraulics/ Pneumatics/ Motors/ Pumps 
  • Strong communication skills.
