Our client is looking for a Payroll & Pensions Officer to join their team on a temporary basis for 3-4 months. The role will commence in January 2025 and will be paid at a rate of £15.50 per hour. The company offers hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

THE ROLEThe role will support the Payroll & Pensions Manager in the preparation and provision accurate and timely payroll and pensions information in line with statutory legislation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide ongoing support and assistance to the Payroll Manager in the day-to-day administration of all payroll matters, including sick pay, parental leave, salary sacrifice, resignations and termination payments, liaising with other departments as necessary
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of payroll and pensions legislation in order to ensure the payroll and pensions procedures are and policies are efficient, effective and compliant
  • Ensure that the payroll and pensions data and financial information is processed accurately and that work is carried out to set timescales and in accordance with agreed procedures and policies
  • Investigate queries and deal with other enquiries of a non-routine nature, providing assistance and specialist advice as appropriate
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll and pension calculations/deductions and to assist in the production of reconciliations
  • Liaise with and maintain working relationships with all external agencies
  • Prepare adhoc analysis of payroll and pensions data, providing reports and completing returns where required
  • Ensure that confidentiality of data is maintained and that any information given to staff or external agencies does not contravene GDPR

THE PERSON

You will have experience of working within Payroll and Pensions and have solid payroll experience. You will be able to start at fairly short notice (January 2025) and you will be commuteable to Preston. This role is a temporary position and only experienced payroll professionals will be considered. You will be IT literate with good Excel and Microsoft office skills.
