Senior Compliance Manager – Payment Services & PSR Regulations

Location: North West (Hybrid 2 days office)

As they transition to becoming an authorised provider, we are seeking a Senior Compliance Manager to shape the firm's compliance framework. This newly created role offers significant scope for professional growth, strategic influence, and career advancement.

Role Overview:

You will provide expert guidance on UK Payment Services regulations and the evolving regulatory landscape under the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR). Collaborating with senior stakeholders, you will develop and implement regulatory strategies to ensure compliance while supporting business innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on compliance for an Authorised Payment Institution (API), covering PSRs, EMRs, and MLRs.
  • Provide strategic regulatory advice, ensuring full compliance with UK regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
  • Support SMF16 and SMF17 in fulfilling their regulatory responsibilities.
  • Advise senior leadership on regulatory developments, assessing impact and ensuring effective implementation.
  • Manage regulatory reporting obligations and liaise with the FCA and other regulators.
  • Oversee compliance frameworks and policies to support the firm’s authorisation journey.
  • Conduct impact assessments on regulatory changes and deliver training to embed a strong compliance culture.

About You:

  • Proven experience in compliance within a Consumer Credit Lender or Authorised Payment Institution.
  • Strong knowledge of PSRs, EMRs, FCA Handbook (including CONC), Consumer Duty, and SM&CR.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and provide pragmatic, risk-based solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
