Your new companyHays Education have seen an increased need for local behaviour mentors and behaviour specialised teaching assistants across Preston. These are for both day-to-day and long-term supply opportunities within secondary schools in the area.Your new roleWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor/Teaching Assistant to work in a secondary school based in Preston. The successful candidate will work closely with students across KS3 & 4, teachers, and parents to promote positive behaviour and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.You will support students on a 1:1 and smaller intervention basis both inside and outside the classroom. Your role is pivotal in aiding the academic and social development of the students within the school.
- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring for students to improve behaviour and academic performance
- Develop and implement behaviour management plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a positive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Engage with parents and guardians to support student development and address behavioural concerns.
- Deliver workshops and training sessions on behaviour management strategies.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is essential.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies is essential.
- Certification in Team Teach would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
- Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field are desirable.What you'll get in return
