Role Overview:

Our client, a well-established family-run main contractor, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join their growing commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a company with a strong reputation in the healthcare sector, offering a range of projects valued between £100K and £4M, including refits and small new builds.

The ideal candidate will be local to the office in Lancashire, as the role requires regular site visits across various locations. You will be responsible for both Quantity Surveying duties and some estimating responsibilities, making this a diverse and exciting role within a close-knit, expanding team.

Team Overview:

You'll be joining a well-established commercial team consisting of the Commercial Manager, Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, and Degree QS. The commercial team operates out of a separate office across the road from the rest of the business, having expanded over recent years to keep pace with growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management: Oversee the cost control, monitoring, and reporting of projects within the healthcare sector (refits and small new builds).

Estimating: Take on estimating duties as required, supporting the team with cost planning and bid submissions.

Client Liaison: Develop and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure projects run smoothly.

Site Visits: Regular site visits to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and assist in resolving any discrepancies in costs or scheduling.

Value Engineering: Work closely with the project team to suggest cost-effective solutions while maintaining project quality and client satisfaction.

Reporting: Provide regular cost reports and updates to the Commercial Manager, keeping all stakeholders informed of project performance.

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 4 years' post graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally with exposure to estimating and the healthcare sector.

Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

Local Knowledge: Ideally based in or around Lancashire, with the ability to attend regular site visits within the region.

Skills:

Strong understanding of cost management processes and tendering procedures.

Experience in working on healthcare-related projects (refits and small new builds).

Ability to take on estimating duties alongside QS responsibilities.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a growing commercial team.
