Are you an experienced Special Needs Assistant looking for a new opportunity in the Preston area?If you have expertise in supporting children with physical, emotional, and cognitive needs, and are passionate about enhancing their learning experience, this role could be ideal for you.

We are recruiting Special Needs Assistants to support primary education in Preston with an hourly rate of £13 - £14. You'll be working with children with a variety of SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, cognitive delay, global delay, Down syndrome, and hearing impairments. Your assignment will be based on your experience and skills.

Ad hoc positions involve general classroom support, assisting with preparation and covering temporary gaps, supporting children individually or in small groups.For long-term roles, you will actively support the class and your 1:1 assignment, collaborate with teachers, adapt resources, and communicate effectively with staff and parents. Additional responsibilities may include break/lunch support and assisting with assemblies or school trips.

Experience in SEN is essential for this role, and you may be required to attend an interview or observation to ensure your suitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare resources and activities tailored to individual children's needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCO to plan activities
  • Liaise with teachers, TAs, and other support staff
  • Work with small groups or children on a one-to-one basis
  • Monitor and track pupil development

Essential requirements:

  • Experience working with young people
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviours
  • Ability to build rapport with children
  • Flexibility, creativity, and proactivity in your support approach
  • Experience with SEN or learning difficulties
  • TA qualification
