Hours - 8:30am - 4:30pm

This role is a 5 week contract and to be considered it is essential you have an advanced DBS.

Our clients IT Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic and confident 1st Line Support Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will provide first class support to the college, working with students, staff, visitors and contractors. Experience working in a similar role is advantageous.

They are looking for someone to start in this position immediately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first response to queries and jobs raised to the IT Services team through telephone calls, helpdesk entries, e-mails or phone calls
  • Provide first-line fault finding, diagnosis and repair services to support IT users, making effective use of the College's IT helpdesk system to respond to support requests, and maintain records of resolution; identify situations where support requests should be escalated internally, or to a third party to achieve resolution
  • Assist with the installation, configuration and maintenance of IT hardware and software in accordance with relevant regulations, copyright and legal requirements
  • Install and maintain standard network cabling
  • Diagnose and resolve PC, printer, A/V, peripheral and software faults
Personal Attributes and Skills
  • Common applications such as MS Office
  • Knowledge of a broad range of hardware, PC's, iPads, Macs, A/V equipment, printers etc
  • A basic principle of TCP/IP networking and fault finding, including routers and switches
  • Working knowledge of network file permissions, Group Policy, Active Directory, DHCP and DNS
  • Patient, calm and understanding
