Are you a qualified teacher with experience working with students who have special educational needs? Do you have a passion for helping students with disabilities and other challenges achieve their full potential? If so, consider applying for the position of SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) for our local schools.

The SENCO will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision of special educational needs (SEN) support for students in the school. They will work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to identify, assess, and provide interventions for students with SEN. The SENCO will also ensure that the school's SEN policies and procedures are implemented effectively.

To be successful in this role, you should have a teaching qualification and experience working with students who have special educational needs. You should also have strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team. A relevant postgraduate qualification, such as a Master's in Special Educational Needs, is preferred but not always required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the provision of SEN support for students.
  • Ensure that SEN policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
  • Identify, assess, and provide interventions for students with SEN.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Monitor the progress of students with SEN and adjust interventions as necessary.
  • Attend relevant training and conferences to keep up to date with current SEN practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with other school staff to ensure that all students' needs are met.
  • Contribute to the school's overall improvement plan.
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Postgraduate qualification in SEN (desirable)
  • Experience working with students with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Knowledge of SEN policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
