About the role:
The Head of UK Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing and managing all supply chain operations within the United Kingdom, ensuring that goods and services are delivered efficiently, on time, and at optimal cost.
This leadership role involves working closely with other senior leaders to drive improvements in supply chain processes, manage supplier relationships, and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the supply chain strategy for the UK, aligning with overall business objectives.
- Lead a team of supply chain professionals to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and cost-effective solutions.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for the supply chain function to measure performance, efficiency, and effectiveness with a focus on inventory, lead times and risk management.
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations including, inventory management, logistics, warehousing.
- Ensure the smooth and timely flow of goods from suppliers to customers, minimising risk and reducing overall inventory
- Implement best practices in supply chain management including LEAN logistics concepts to optimise efficiency, reduce waste, and improve delivery timelines.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers.
- Take ownership of inventory and manage to budget and targets for the sites and the wider UK business;
- Optimise inventory holdings whilst maintaining customer service levels
- Manage contracts and pricing agreements, ensuring that supply chain costs are managed effectively.
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve the quality and reliability of materials and products.
- Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies related to supply chain operations.
- Monitor market trends, risks, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors that may impact the supply chain.
- Collaborate closely with the procurement team
About you:
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in supply chain management including some time in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in leading complex, multi-site supply chain operations, preferably within a UK/ Far East context.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with supply chain management software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS, TMS, etc.).
- Knowledge of industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies in supply chain management.
- Ability to lead and inspire teams while managing cross-functional relationships effectively.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and cost control initiatives.
- Professional certifications (e.g., APICS, CIPS, or similar) are a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Attention to detail, accuracy and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
- Excellent use of MS Office.
