Pupil Administrator

Location: Tokers Green, Reading, Berkshire

Salary: £12.15ph - £13.14ph (Actual annual salary - £21,709.61 - £23,478.54) dependant on experience

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only

Start date: 1st October 2024

This new school in Tokers Green, Reading, Berkshire is due to open in November 2024, supporting young people aged 6 -16 with Moderate to Severe Learning and Specific Learning Disabilities needs including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and associated difficulties, who require an individualised, specialist approach.

Key Duties:

  • To be a point of contact for enquiries and referrals from the Group's commissioning and placements team.
  • To manage the admissions paperwork for all new pupils.
  • Liaise with parents, staff and outside agencies with regards to all pupil related meetings, visits, etc., including arranging Review Meetings and to take accurate minutes at meetings as required.
  • To liaise with the Designated Person for Child Protection regarding any concerns for pupil welfare.
  • Maintain the School's information system with pupil & family details.
  • Ensure that all registers are up to date and follow up any unexplained absences.
  • General administration to type correspondence or documents as requested by other members of staff.
  • Monitoring school emails and forwarding / answering as appropriate.
  • Covering Reception and telephone, welcoming visitors - ensuring correct procedures are followed.

Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of Aurora Rowan School when required

You Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (at least 5 GCSEs [or equivalent] above C to include English and Maths).
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role. (Preferably in a school setting)
  • Computer literacy - Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint (desirable) and ability to use range of databases once trained.
  • Accurate typing, touch typing essential.
  • Organised, good time management.
  • Ability to manage own time to deal with multiple tasks.
  • High levels of interpersonal ability with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work as part of a team but also to work alone.
  • Ability to be discreet, confidential and reliable.
  • Experience of SEN children/young adults desirable.
