Role: Principal Commercial ManagerSalary/Rate: £ 81 per hr (inside IR35) Location: Hybrid ReadingContract Duration: 15 months

We are currently looking for a Principal Commercial Manager for our government client. This Principal Commercial Manager role is hybrid, based between 1-2 days in the office/on site and the remainder of the week working remotely. Office locations will vary within the Reading area, and occasional national supplier visits (expensed) will be required as per business needs (usually South East UK) which will count towards the onsite attendance days.

The contract for the Principal Commercial Manager position is for 15-months with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: Security Check ("SC Clearance")and sole UK national

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Essential skills/experience required:

Proven sourcing strategy experience
Experience of end-to-end procurement lifecycle
A procurement specialist with strong category management experience
Strong supplier engagement skills
Stakeholder Management skills - has worked with stakeholders to clearly define requirements
Worked on Large scale Commercial contracts with diverse category experience
High level of commercial acumen
Central Government experience
Good problem-solving skills
Adaptable
NEC Contract knowledge Option A, C and E or any equivalent contracts
Construction background
Waste services exposure would be beneficial
Nuclear/defence background would be advantageous

The role:

Responsible for contractual and commercial management and effective contract administration to the relevant team providing commercial assurance to deliver commercial value.
Drive and implement Category Strategy to deliver cost effective category solutions and business models.
Responsible for securing and tracking cost reduction, contract management and continuity of Supply Chain.
Secure stakeholders' involvement and participation in category strategies, sourcing activities and supplier relationship management activities and share SCM category strategies, PSL, supplier performance etc
Prepare and execute a Contract which is appropriate to the scope, value and risk outlined in the sourcing strategy, ensuring all relevant stakeholders have contributed and approved as appropriate.
Develop and implement Category Strategies for assigned sub-group of categories, balancing short and long-term objectives to meet business strategy and efficiencies (savings) in alignment with business stakeholders.
Support and execute complex strategic sourcing activities in line with approved category strategies and preferred suppliers list
Identify and develop supplier value including planning and participating to external management review meetings with segmented suppliers (Management Business Reviews and Executive Business Reviews)
Support the development and interface with the Service Centre.
Business Intelligence, benchmark, and market insight to support category development.
