Role accountabilities and responsibilities

Routine Accounting

* Accrued and deferred income posting.

* Approval of month end journals including accruals, prepayments and payroll.

* Posting cost reallocations.

* Balance sheet reconciliation.

* Posting, reconciliation and forecasting of income.

* VAT return and reconciliation.

* Ensure the accuracy of the Fixed Asset Register.

Reporting, budgeting and forecasting

* Manage the production of the monthly management accounts.

* Provision of financial analysis and variance analysis.

* Business partnering with an Executive member and their Divisional managers on monthly management accounts.

* Manage budgeting and forecasting.

* Manage audit.

* Assist with Statutory financial statements preparation.

* Assist with the annual Office for Students financial return.

Financial systems

* Investigate transactional issues in relevant systems.

* Update finance systems with new codes/analysis codes.

* Provide support and training to end users e.g. in purchase ordering.

General

* Line management of the Management Accounts Team, including two Finance Analysts and an Assistant Accountant, whose ACCA studies will need to be supervised and supported.

* Profitability analysis assisting financial resilience and business optimisation.

* Provide support when required to members of the wider finance team.

* Undertake other duties of similar nature which fall within the scope of the post which may be required from time to time.
